What about the York State Bank Golden Eagles that has been in existance for around 30 years? You see last year the rec league tried to align themselves with the Golden Eagles and well as you can see that didn't work out so well. The Golden Eagles sponsers were NOT going to give into these power hungry people.

I am very angry that what I thought we "bright" and "knowledgeable" people in this town and falling all over themselves, when it comes to pleasing the "High School" softball coach. My daughter plays softball for the Golden Eagles and will NOT be playing for the Fusion or the Rec. If Danyel is the High School coach when my daughter gets there, "Yikes"! Until my daughter is ready for the 9th grade she will have nothing to do with Danyel Seevers and her so called coaching. When she yelled and screamed at the 10 & under girls this past summer, like they were 18 years old...well, that's when my opinion truely changed about her.

In this article she call it "skills evaluation"....that's crap...it's a try-out...call it like it is...a TRY-OUT!!! There has never been try-outs for the Golden Eagles...EVER.
They will take all skill levels as long as the commitment is there. The difference between Rec & Eagles is commitment. Now the way "Fusion" sounds to me is the difference between the teams will be TALENT. It also said that they would have a highly competitive team as well as providing teams and opportunities for softball athletes of all skill level. What is the age of this "highly competitive team"??? Let me guess...probably about her daughters age.

It seems to me that she doesn't think that the Golden Eagles are teaching their players anything. In the article it says that the Fusion will be an environment where all athletes can become better players and individuals. It also says thay they will emphasize good character, sportsmanship, strong work ethic, and positive attitudes. I wonder if that will also go for the her. In her yelling match at the 10 & under girls this past summer, I did not see any of these qualities exhibited.

The bottom of the article says, "Together...Let a new era begin.", I believe in tradition and Golden Eagles will prevail!

Wow! Sound to me that someone just has sour grapes or is worried that their daughter or daughters won't get the same treatment that they do from their SELECT coach. Why not look at the whole picture and look at all ages instead of how it effects you.

From what I have heard, every age group will have a competitive team. They are also going to have, what you call "TRY OUTS" for coaches so they can get the best coaches and asst. coaches they can and not just hand it to whoever the first warm body is.

As for Danyel, it is personnal attacks like this that has created so much friction between the Golden Eagles and Rec League. Lets think about what is best for the girls and not what is best for ego's.

I wish the best for both leagues and hope they both benefit the girls of York. Go York Girls Softball.

By the way, thanks for writing this article whoever you are, you give a great example of narrowmindedness that has kept our softball programs for obtaining their full potential.

Another great article by someone who only thinks of themselves. Read this past post from the same person. Seems it's all about her.

This is an article arising from the Golden Eagles 8&u team winning state. It seem that they are not so behind the Golden Eagles in this post and really want a competitive team.

The powers that be have decided that it is not fair to keep this hard working girls together this year and that it is best to break up the team. The girls have worked so hard over the last 3 years and now the women who run the Golden Eagles and the rec teams want to split them up. I am sorry but I believe that the girls deserve to play together and not be split up. This is a highly competive team and they should stay together. York's other teams have no structure to them. Every year girls are put on a different team and then expected to know what the other girls are doing. The coaching on the teams change yearly and the coaching isn't consistant. The rec teams should also not be 9 and under, once the girls are done with t-ball they should not be 6 or 7 playing on a field with 9 or 10 year olds. Please restructure the softball system here!!!

I believe that full potiential can never be reached as there is always room for improvement. The improvement started in 2008 when the Eagles 8 & under won the State Championship. Now that team is being dismantled by unhappy parents. It is not about my children, it is about the back stabbing that goes behind closed doors, then in turn trickles down to all the children. I believe that my children deserve the best coach's around. Golden Eagles is not a select team...all are welcome to sign up and play softball. I was not against the Eagles last fall, I was against the rec league wanting to combine with them and trying to split up the State Champs. As far as personal attacks go, maybe she should of thought about that before she attacked the pitchers and catchers.

I am very excited about this new program. The Rec league was great for my daughter! However, she did learn a whole lot from it as the coaches were great parents and students willing to volunteer their time and not necesarily softball experts. My daughter is not the most competitive spirit out there and it seems like this "Fusion" will teach my child the skills she will need if she decides to play once she hits high school while still being able to play in the Rec league. It's Win/Win in my eyes!

I don't think your attack of coach Seevers is justified. She is not saying break up the Eagles. Go ahead, play with them and have a good season. What she is saying is that she wants to see is an organization that is teaching kids how to play a more competative softball. I can tell you as a coach and father of two girls who were on the 12u Eagles last year that what we accomplished as a team was because of all the teams efforts in the off season and preseason. We tried to establish a team early and were met with resistance, so as parents of individual players, we just concentrated on our own kids and kept working out on our own. When we finally found out who was on the team in late spring, practice began and we were lucky enough to have a team full of dedicated kids who worked hard for the upcomming season. Sometimes though, I wonder what if? What if we would have had more time to work with the kids before the season started? What if we would have had organized clinics for the girls in the Eagles league to hone thier skills with coaches who know how to teach the game? This is what coach Seevers is wanting to do with her knew organization. She is not saying dissolve the Eagles. Stay with the Eagles if that is where you are happy. Me personelly, my girls are going to the Fusion. Not because my experiance with the Eagles was bad, but because the Fusion seems to be offering what I have always wanted since my kids have started playing softball. A chance to be taught the game right, and believe me, as a father and a coach in both the rec league and Eagles, you can only teach your own children so much. There is the all parents are idiots thing.

By the way, we yelled at our girls once in awhile during practice and in the games. Did they cry, yes. Did they get over it, yes. Did the parents dissapprove of it, no.
I can tell you that yelling is not what i wanted to do, but like my old football coach used to tell me, it is when they are not yelling at you that you should be worried. We yelled because we cared. We say the potential in them and sometimes you have to wake them up.

They are having the early registration so they can work out and practice through out the winter. The interesting thing is that the 8 & under team was the first to play during the winter, but when they started that it was a huge issue.

So Horrass are you saying that the Eagles are not a competitive league? To me, that is not true. You also state that "this is what coach seevers is wanting to do with her knew organization". The article in the paper said it was a combined effort between the fusion and the rec league...but you just confirmed that seevers is running things. Shouldn't she be focused on her high school team right now? Also, I don't like her comment about the fusion being a stepping stone to the high school softball team, so basically she is saying that if you continue to play with the Eagles, you won't be getting to much time, if any, once you hit high school. Is that correct or am I just reading to much into things? Why is it Horrass that all of a sudden, now you want more practice time as a team and not 3 - 5 years ago, is it because Marla's team laid the foundation for that and now others see that it works? The fusion never would have come to be if Marla had given into Danyel and let Danyel have her team in the Eagles.

Too the first question, yes, this is why we are having early registration. Most of the surround competative teams had thiers in July.

Now for the practice question from QT. Marla is not the only one who wants to practice. She had the luxury of selecting her own team three years ago and good for her. She is teaching the girls softball and that is what is needed. This is not what was happening at the ages above her team. Sure there was on occasional clinic or two, but most of the girls were involved in other sports and missed out. The Eagles did not set this up for pitchers and catchers and that is a position that needs to stay working out all year around.

To answer the question of you have to join the fussion now to play high school softball, think about it. Why would who you plays for in summer matter to the high school coach. What will matter to her is who has skills to play the game. How will they get those skills, practice. What will the new organization offer, more practice then before.

In the end, it is about the girls and what they want. I know the girls I coached want to practice more. Now half of that team will be going on up and I do not think the Eagles have a coach that can handle the level of competative play that he will face. But yet, they will not make a change and that will hurt those kids chances of learning at the next level how to play beyond hitting and pitching.

To answer CosmicMuffin, yes, this is why the Eagles are registering early this year. So that the teams can be set and winter work outs will be possible.

Now to QT1. Do you really think that Mrs. Seevers would consider who a person played for if they could help the team win. Not if she is a good coach. Do I think the Eagles are competative, the answer is some teams were. Could have been better with more practice and learning situations. Now as far as practice time for the team, I, as a parent, have praticed with both of my daughters through the winter. Would I have liked to have practiced with the whole team, sure. The problem is that we did not have a team last winter. The ten and others had thier team all ready selected 3 years ago and that was because the Eagles did not have an 8 and under. Sorry, I forgot, they were not a select team. Now, were there girls in York who could have made that team stronger, yes. Did you have tryouts, no.
Now we could argue back and forth, but in the end, are we really giving our kids the oppurtunity to play competative softball if we do not help them learn the game. That is what the Fussion is promoting. Establish teams early, pratice to get ready, and make sure that each team plays within thier skill level so that they do not get dicouraged. That girl that has trouble this year may be a star in the future.

By the way QT1, Marla did not invent practice, she just knew who she was practicing with.
