Recycling is voluntary throughout York County, but encouraged by municipalities as state-imposed guidelines on landfill reduction come into force.

Located at the York Area Landfill, which is 3/4 mile west of the “Y” intersection of Highways 81 and 34 north of York.
Accepted items: newspaper, office paper and junk mail; magazines; corrugated and non-corrugated cardboard; #1 clear, #1 green, #2 milk jugs and #2 colored plastics; brown and clear glass; tin and aluminum cans and aluminum foil. The center does NOT accept: herbicide or insecticide containers, plastic bags or scrap metal.
The center requests that residents empty all containers and sort the materials if possible.

Accepts: # 1 and #2 plastics, milk jugs, cardboard, newspaper, flattened tin cans, flattened aluminum cans, white ledger paper, magazines, glass and paper sacks. Does NOT accept insecticide or oil containers.
