The York County Board of Commissioners carries out a number of duties within the county, including: setting the budget, appropriating funds for county offices, purchasing equipment for county use and authorizing road, highway and bridge maintenance within the county’s borders.

The commissioners also act as a board of equalization, meeting to hear and adjust valuation protests as well as to approve or disapprove requested tax exemptions.

The five-member board meets on Tuesday once every two weeks in the county commissioners’ room at the York County Courthouse. County Clerk Cynthia Heine serves as the secretary for the meetings. All meetings are open to the public. An agenda is available at the county clerk’s office prior to each meeting.
