Lt. Sikes interview

“After 39.5 years, Lt. Jack Sikes will go to Mr. Sikes.”
That sentence, said by City Administrator Jack Vavra to the York City Council this past week, made the room grow quiet. Maybe it was because he’s been such a fixture on the police force that no one realized it’s been that long. Maybe it’s because the city’s not ready to let go of such a valuable employee. Maybe it was a silence built upon respect.
